# Mission Cosmo – Inspiration to Cambodian Young Generation #

In reality, this mission is a part of a competition called “First Global Challenge” that required Team Cambodia to build the Robot and Cubesat Prototype and what we have done and learned is more than just a competition that just cares about score or rank in leaderboard or win over other 100 countries.

For me, as one of the four Mentor members, it is with great pleasure that our team of students strive until we successfully launch and get the data back on 26 Sep 2021.

What happened behind the scenes of the success Cubesat Launch that most of the news didn’t mention ?

=> The answer is Invaluable lessons.

1. Compete against Time

For them (students), they are still in their online class and haven’t got vacation yet and they also have their final exam coming up. Moreover the challenge given by the first global challenge is brand new to them and they only have 5 weeks to complete. For them as a grade 10 , 11, and 12, there are many new things that they don’t know yet and need to explore more in such a short period of time. Therefore, both I and the students have to work late into the night, which is inevitable.

2. If there is no local store that sell those component, we create and design it ourselves (Creativity)

Just because we thought more than just a competition, our team decided to put a parachute and other essentials,Etc. So, we decided to shop for it but unfortunately our country does not have it. Like it or not, we have to create those essentials by using our own creativity to create from the surrounding materials we can find.

3. Teamwork

No one can work alone. The results come from the effort of each member who follows a role and what each of them specializes in or learns new things that each of them is not good at In order for the work to go smoothly.

4. Engineering Mindset

Everything is not as smooth as planned. Technical errors, wrong calculations are possible at any time. The important thing is, if a problem arises, how can we reflect it? What is the reason behind it ? Which solution should be used? Is it possible to change other methods to achieve the goal?

5. Trust and Give opportunity

E2STEM directors and staff are always encouraging, sponsoring and doing everything possible to help students achieve their goals. Apparently, like on 24 September we can’t launch the CubeSat Prototype because the amount of helium gas we have in the weather balloon can’t weigh the cubesat. We try to buy this kind of gas in Tbong Khmum, Kampong Cham, but it is not available. In the end, all we can do is release the helium gas that costs more than $ 70 and pack our material with and come to Phnom Penh with hopeless and don’t know what to do next because we don’t where can we find sponsor and especially the deadline of the competition is getting closer. The students reflected on the technical flaws, along with a strong determination not to give up and to the end, even next week, the day after the exam, the day of submitting the competition was closer. The school director met with the students on the 25th and provided a budget and a message of encouragement for the successful completion of the 26th task. And last but not least, we really made it.

6. The kindness of Cambodian

After the satellite landed and was picked up by a man who picked palm as a job, he asked his relatives to call the number on the box immediately and tell them the exact location of the GPS location embedded in the device. They admire the younger generation who can do it, and we also have a hidden feeling in our hearts that we will be committed to being a quality youth, knowledge and skills and finding ways to improve the lives of people in the countryside and better through innovative technology, etc.

7. Inspiration

The purpose of this launch is not the reputation of the school or the country that the children of Angkor blood can do, but a message to all Cambodians, especially children, to look beyond the sky, the space is wide and furthermore, for everyone in particular has a lot of things we can study and research. Moreover, we hope that students and children will fall in love with this field after our team starts this project . We don’t have a million dollars to build a rocket and a spaceship right now, but simple stuff like plastic boxes and foam boxes for only $ 1,000 and videos capturing the beauty of the planet from the Edge of Space make Cambodians admire it and love it and feel a little dizzy when we see it. “This is the main purpose of this launch.”

We are happy to share our Experiences and Techniques.
